"In Her Rut"
36 X 36
She's in her overstuffed chair, down in her rut, wearing her military uniform to show she is in charge.
There's a rocket blasting into space on her helmet - an indication she believes she can propel herself out of there.
Her shoes are "Dorothy red" ... another way out.
Rain is seeping into the bottom of the rut with the possibility of more on the way.
There is an ageing (couch?) potato in the corner and some demons around her.
Don't know if the stop sign is telling the dark clouds to stop or whether that's why she hasn't climbed out.
She's wondering if the ominous cloud will pass or flood her out.
Her huge thumbs are tapping, tapping, tapping - should she climb out now or settle back in and be comfortable right where she is? Ruts are universal.

"Gilding the Lily"
30 X 40
An expression used when people put multiple toppings on perfectly delicious ice cream.
She looks pretty judgmental.
King John's portrait is included because it is thought the first use of the term occurred when Shakespeare, in King John, wrote it was superfluous for him to be crowned twice.
